About Jason

Jason Westlake

Jason Westlake

I am married with two small children, ages 2 and 8 months.  I run a yoga studio with my wife and I am the franchise trainer for the largest yoga franchise in Canada.  I have been a sales trainer and coach for seven years.  I have also combined training with traveling as I have run year-long coaching programs that have culminated with 2-week adventures on safari in the Amazon Jungle in Peru.

I think what I love the most is traveling.  And what I love the most is taking people on once-in-a-lifetime trips that they would never otherwise experience.  It’s one thing for me to travel, but it’s so much more rewarding to bring people along and watch as they see places and things that blow their minds. I love taking people to encounter things and see things that take their breath away.  And then I love to use those trips as a backdrop to change their lives.  Here are the things that I love within traveling:

  1. Seeing all types of wildlife
  2. Being out in nature
  3. Going remote — the less humans, the more wildlife
  4. Birdwatching
  5. Exploring new landscapes and cultures
  6. Learning new cultures and languages
  7. Climbing mountains
  8. Living abroad
  9. Going places off the beaten track
  10. Experiencing little known cultures

I have visited more than 30 countries and 5 continents.  I travel with my family as well and love to share with people how to travel with kids.  I have lived in 3 different countries.  I speak Spanish.  Some of the things I have done with clients include kayaking with killer whales and humpbacks, seeing Uncontacted Tribes in the Amazon, seeing 4 jaguars in the wild, snowmobiling on glaciers, Machu Picchu and more.

Here are some of the items on my bucket list in the near future:

My Bucket List (For the next 5 years)

  1. Galapagos Islands
  2. Seeing the Spirit Bears in the Great Bear Rainforest in Canada
  3. Birdwatching in the Maranon Valley in Peru.
  4. Seeing the Birds of Paradise in Papua New Guinea.
  5. Seeing wild gorillas and chimps in Uganda
  6. Going on a 2-week safari on the Serengeti in Tanzania.
  7. Climbing Mt Rainier in Washington and Mt Waddington in Canada.
  8. A Northern Lights trip in the Yukon
  9. Grizzly bear canoe trip in northern BC in Canada.
  10. Rafting the Nahanni River in Northern Canada.
  11. Hiking the Brooks Range in Alaska.
  12. Visiting at least 5 islands in Indonesia.
  13. Going on a tiger safari in India.
  14. Visiting Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
  15. Visiting New Zealand.
  16. Komodo Island in Indonesia.

Jason, I have known Callie since I was 13, over 17 years now and can say that I couldn’t agree with you more on all of the amazing things you wrote about her. I wish you both the best together.
